Body of missing 19-year-old Virginia teen found behind a church in North Carolina.
Authorities are reporting that the body of 19-year-old Virginia woman who went missing two weeks ago was found behind a church in North Carolina. A gardener found Ashanti Billie's body was who cutting grass on Friday morning (9/29) at the East Stonewall AME Zion Church in Charlotte.
He reportedly was hit with a strange odor before finding the young woman's body. Billie was reported missing when she did not show up to her shift at a sandwich shop in Norfolk, Virginia. The FBI says her car was abandoned and her cellphone was found in the trash.
A medical examiner confirmed Billie's identity, but they did not release a cause of death or any information on how the teen's body ended up in North Carolina.
Special Agent in Charge of the Norfolk Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Martin Culbreth released a statement to CBS affiliate WTVR. "It is with deep regret that I inform the community that Ashanti Billie has been located, deceased, in Charlotte, North Carolina. I, along with the entire investigative team, offer our most sincere condolences to the Billie family, especially Ashanti's parents Brandy and Tony. Our thoughts and prayers are with you."
The only good that comes from this right now is that ease of what if her family has been through. Now they must mourn her death with hopes her killer is brought to justice.
