Breaking: 2 dead after construction worker shoots foreman then turns gun on himself on the Upper west side.
The gunman and the victim were both found dead inside the building at 646 West 59th Street on Manhattan's Upper West Side between 11th Avenue and the Joe DiMaggio highway on Thursday morning at around 9am.
Witnesses said the shooter was a disgruntled employee who opened fire on his foreman after being laid off several days ago. SWAT teams were sent to the scene to hunt the gunman. They discovered him dead inside.
The supervisor was on the 39th floor of the W. 59th St. building near 11th Ave. about 7:10 a.m. when the man approached and blasted away, striking him four times, including at least once in the head.
The supervisor died at the scene. His name was not immediately disclosed.
